Societal challenges often require an interdisciplinary approach, and supporting interdisciplinary research is an aim of the framework programmes. This indicator tracks the extent of interdisciplinarity, as part of one of the routes through which impact can be facilitated. This indicator therefore provides contextual information to support the analysis of different societal impacts. The ‘Low’ score represents projects with one or two research themes, the ‘Medium’ score represents projects with 3 research themes and the ‘High’ score represents projects with more than 3 research themes.
