Level of cross-sectoral collaboration

Societal challenges often require an cross-sectoral approach, and supporting collaborative research is an aim of the framework programmes. This indicator tracks the extent of cross-sectoral collaboration, as part of one of the routes through which impact can be facilitated. This indicator therefore provides contextual information to support the analysis of different societal impacts. Organisation types are classified as: Higher or secondary education (HES), Private for profit (excluding education) (PRC), Public body (excluding research & education) (PUB), Research organisations (REC), Other (OTH). The ‘Low’ score represents projects with the participation of one or two types of organisation, the ‘Medium’ score represents projects with the participation of 3 to 4 organisation types and the ‘High’ score represents projects with all organisation types represented.
